Here are some graduate papers
- “This was no Time for Books” - A short paper looking at the books Hiroshima and The Fate of the Earth. It was my first paper after a year and a half break from school, so it is a little rusty.
- “Power and Will” - A look at Augustine and his arguments on free will.
- “Said’s Postcolonial Theory: Orientalism” - A outline of Edward Said’s postcolonial theory.
- Orientalism Critiqued - Here I examine the claims made by Orientalism and try to determine how one should handle his advice to only have the culture speak for itself.
- Augustine’s Letter of Semi-Predestinationism - This is an exegetical look at Augustine’s “Letter to Simplician,” with a special note on how the work relates to his views on Predestinationism.
- A Quick Change Artist -Was Augustine’s transition from a libertarian to a determinist? It posits a forum where three people are invited to give their interpretations of Augustine’s works. The papers are then followed up by a discussion on how or if Augustine’s thought developed throughout his life.
- The Marketing and Disavowal of Miracles - I take a look at how the Canonical Gospels, especially the Gospel of Luke utilize miracle stories versus how the Gnostic Gospels of the Nag Hammadi library utilize miracle stories.
